Hartfield House Hostel

Our hostel, located in the heart of Applecross, comprises 13 rooms (31 beds).

Ensuite rooms:

We have one ensuite superior king, two ensuite double rooms and one ensuite family room.

Shared facilities:

We have single, twin, triple and dorm rooms with shared facilities. All bedrooms are clean, comfy, warm and uncluttered - full bedding is provided.   Towels are available on request for a £2.00 fee and can be collected at reception.

Shower/toilets:

There are two shower blocks (male and female), along with toilet facilities on the ground floor.

Kitchen/dining:

We have a kitchen with two range cookers, fridge/freezers, microwave and toasters, along with crockery, pans and kitchen utensils. We have food storage facilities, as well as a separate utility room for washing dishes and recycling food waste.

On the right hand side of the kitchen - beside the cooker, you'll find a light switch which will turn the extractor fan on.

There is a large dining room with plenty of space, and tables outside for sunny midge free days.

Communal rooms:

We have a large and very peaceful sitting room with a TV, wooden floors, comfy sofas and large bay windows looking out over the mountains. There is also a covered area for bikes, bike wash and maintenance area, laundry, and a drying room for wet days.

Shop:

We have a small shop selling snacks, essentials, merchandise, instant porridge, noodles and pizzas.

The Bunkhouse

The Bunkhouse is a separate self-contained building comprising nine rooms: one single, seven twin bunk rooms and one four-bed bunk room (total 19 people). All rooms have shared facilities.

Communal rooms:

There is a comfortable lounge with TV, self-catering kitchen/dining room, and three shower rooms.

The Bunkhouse can be booked individually by the room, or hired exclusively for groups.

Outdoor Space

Covered bike area/storage:

There are many outbuildings at Hartfield, some of which can be used to store kit or for tinkering on bikes. There is also a covered bike area to ensure no weather damage.

Covered area for motorbikes:

There is an open sided shelter for motorbikes which also houses an electric socket for charging your vehicle.  You will need your own adapter - we only provided the power outlet. The cost for an overnight charge is £15.

Applecross Gym:

Hartfield benefits from having Applecross Gym on site. Adjacent to the main building and under the trees, it is available for your use free of charge. All you need to do is fill out an induction form at reception, and we will give you the code to the building. The gym is open 6.30am - 10.30pm each day. See information on the gym here

Parking:

There is ample private parking in a safe environment. Should the car park become full, there is overflow parking immediately outside the hostel gates.

Gardens:

There is a large garden with views over the surrounding mountains, and the Applecross Bay in the distance. You are welcome to use this space.

A note about the Wi-Fi:

The building has Wi-Fi throughout but the internet is not fast! We have no access to superfast broadband and no mobile phone reception, and so streaming of films is not really an option. This is a breathtakingly beautiful, remote area, and we recommend that you enjoy the peace and tranquillity of a digital detox.
